For special services, or the diary of regular events, try our calendar by clicking here (you may need to click through the months!).
We are now also ‘streaming’ most of our morning services as they happen to allow more people to attend ‘socially distanced’, or at a time that suits them later, via Youtube, which can be viewed via This page - click here!
Sunday services
We no longer offer an 8:00am service as too few people were coming along.
Our Main Morning service - 9.30am
First, Second and Fourth Sunday of each Month
Common Worship, sung Eucharist with childrens activities, and/or crèche available as required.
Third Sunday of each month
Family Friendly informal service ("Switch"), with modern worship songs, activities for children on the theme of the day, and some teaching for adults! We hold this in the Hall, with lots of space for the children to run around if they want. This is not a communion service.
Also an 11.00 service in church, which is usually a shorter service of communion, with music. (Most months - please check the news-sheet for the previous week for details, via the link on www.spcbalsall.church/links/ or “More News ...” at the bottom of this page.)
On the Fifth Sunday of the Month (where there is one)
Cafe Church, which usually begins with coffee and Danish pastries, and a less formal celebration of communion in the church.
Also an 11.00 service in church, which will be a shorter service of communion, with music (but no choir).
There is "Coffee for All" - After every 9.30 service / before the 11:00 service, Coffee (or tea!) and biscuits are served in the Hall at 10:30 , and there's a chance to chat with friends and buy Fairtrade tea, coffee and chocolate etc.
Brief Sung Communion - 11.00am
On Third and Fifth Sundays of each month, a quieter later celebration of the Eucharist
Informal Worship -
On the First Sunday of each month at 11:00am we have an Informal worship service with opportunities to ask questions and explore what Christianity is all about - for all ages
On the Second Sunday of each month at 11:00 am we hold our second Informal Service. This is a family friendly, all age worship service with activities for everyone.
The Third Sunday has Switch, another Informal service, at 9:30 (just for a change)
On the Fourth Sunday of each month we shall be running a slightly more informal, family-friendly Communion Service with ‘sermon skiver’ options for young people!
In months where there is a 'Fifth Sunday', we invite you to Cafe Church - a relaxed service of communion to which all including families with young children are particularly welcome and - please - don't feel inhibited: there's refreshments (*and toilets) available throughout the service, which may help pacify your kids!
Evening service - 6.00pm
On the First Sunday of every month, there is a sung Evensong, using the traditional Book of Common Prayer, and sometimes we have extra services for special occasions
Weekday activities:
‘A Warm Welcome’ drop-in …. Every Thursday between 2:00 and 4:00 the church is open to drop in for a break with refreshments, friendly faces and comfy chairs!
Tea and Cakes on a Thursday Afternoon is not a religious event, but on the Second Thursday of the month, we offer home-made cakes at the Warm Welcome Hub! (we used to have a short time of worship and prayer, but at present do not ).
Do look out for 'Special Events' and Facebook postings - or posters. If you would like to see another 'midweek' service, please let us know, and we'll see what we can do - or you could ask for one of our Readers or the Vicar to bring you communion in your own home.
On most Fridays we hold a short service in Harper Fields Care Home for the residents and staff from 11:00 in the various Unit lounges: families of residents are welcome to join in.
